Hatha Yoga

IMG_0732Hatha yoga broadly refers to a style of yoga that works on a wide range of physical postures or asanas as well as breathwork or pranayama to build physical and mental strength, to induce relaxation, improve circulation, posture and breathing as well as having many other benefits.

Hatha yoga doesn’t follow a set sequence but is intended to open up the whole body, calm the mind and prepare the person for the practise of sitting quietly in meditation. It is generally thought to be a more gentle style of yoga and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Yoga is about finding more freedom and space in the body, observing the way the mind works and understanding the relationship between the body and the mind.

Often the practise of yoga is energising as well as relaxing. It may relieve the body of stiffness, bring mental clarity, peace and joy.
